Learning through play

We strongly believe that play under pins all development and learning for young children, therefore our home is arranged so that children have easy access to toys and activities.

In our experience children learn best by doing rather than by being told and because learning is a shared process, we feel that children gain knowledge better when they are being supported by a trusted adult who shows interest and is interested in what they may have chosen to do.

We provide throughout the day various adult led and free choice or child initiated activities and our home is set out to allow our children access to free flow play indoors or outdoors. Activities and learning experiences are planned on the basis of the individual child's developmental progress and interests.

Often we stand back and take time to allow our children to initiate spontaneous play, however we are also aware that some children may need a little adult support from time to time and one of us is always on hand to happily join in their play.

We as well endeavour to enable all children to participate, enjoy and achieve in all our rich play based activities, which we believe will foster their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.
