FAQ

Your questions answered

How will our child spend the day?

The day is planned taking into account children's individual needs and routines. There is a balance between planned adult lead activities and opportunities for the children to make their own choices. The children frequently are taken out into the local community and on a weekly basis (Thursdays) attend a mother and toddler session, which enables children to mix with other children and adults and experience different activities. We go to the library once a week and have regular walks to the meadow park and shops. The children are always strapped securely in the car whenever we use it and appropriate insurance is taken out on our vehicle.

Some of the regular activities children experience are: painting, gluing, junk modeling, role play, dressing up, water & amp; sand play, books, singing, games, dancing, jigsaws, puzzles, play-dough, cooking, tents & amp; tunnels to name but a few!!

The playroom is planned so that the children can self select from a variety of resources and out door garden space is used whenever possible

What happens if our child is tired?

There is a quiet room for children to sleep in and we have registered bedrooms, which have cots for babies. Your child will be soothed, reassured and offered any comfort item he/she may need to aid their sleep, either in a cot or on a comfortable sleep mat, depending on the age of your child.

In addition we keep a written record on all sleeping children (every fifteen minutes) and physical checks are made as well as using a sleep monitor.

What happens if our child is fretting for me?

If possible it is good to have a gradual settling in period to try and eliminate a child being too fretful for long periods. A child is comforted and a favourite toy (linked with home) usually helps to settle the child. Please feel assured that we would contact you if we were unable to settle your child.

What food would you give our child to eat and what happens if he/she will not eat?

It is important that we know your child's likes and dislikes. A healthy variety of foods are offered and the menu for the week is displayed on our Parent's/Career's notice board.
Please inform us if any of the food that we provide is not appropriate for your child and we will ensure that an alternative is being offered.
Should your child not eat anything then we will of course let you know and we will closely liaise with you and your child should this situation persist.

Where will our child eat?

The children are all encouraged to eat together in our kitchen. Babies are either in low/high chairs and older children are either at the low bench table or our kitchen dinning table, whenever possible we all enjoy eating outside in our garden.. Help and encouragement are given when needed.

What if our child is sick?

It is best that children who are ill are cared for at home, where the child can have the comfort of his/her parent/carer and home surroundings.
If a child becomes unwell whilst in our care, we will ensure that the child will be made comfortable and that the parent or named person will be contacted. If your child has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, then we would ask of parents not to bring their child to our setting for at least 24hrs and to ensure that the child has eaten a meal, without being ill, before they return.

We hope that you have found this information useful and we hope that you will approach us at any time should you have any further questions or concerns.
